How to catch a fish 3

Here after a long time, to finally end up the subject of how to catch fish. So we have a little cheap boat we nylon fishing, hook, a little lead and going fishing. Soon you will see that the loss of equipment to fishing from the boat significantly less than the coast, so we reduce the cost. We came to the coast, we have entered into a boat, we placed accessories that do not rustle and mind during the voyage and gently moving. for me the greatest pleasure was this part where only detach from the coast, the engine has not yet reached operating temperature and drive it all the way slowly, slowly navigating through the sea, the engine hums gently, and the whole team is ready. I usually drive, I have the most experience of the team, but it has nothing to do (my boat my rules). Yet we share work, I drive, a friend of the main deck and Under deck, and in general store items. he is somehow very well made. is responsible for the bait ... I know that I say let's somehow too much work left to him but he was safe when they get the third party on the boat and have to listen to him.We left and we leave the coast behind, we agree where we'll go fishing, where the depth of how far from the coast, etc ... Anchoring. Now we are here. the anchor should be cautious and not just toss the anchor and say it's good. I need to see which way traction current, which side of the underwater elevation reached. Anchor should slow down because it can easily happen that the anchor complicate the ropes and then you can not keep, so you around all over the place. Anchor us is lowered in relation to bollards, stuck and started us turn a - that's a good sign, it means that the anchor caught and kept. Now preparing bait. Do not prepare too much because in the heat of perishable, and because we're not sure that we would hunt all the time, because we do not know how the fish at this point ready to cooperate, they ate some bigger fish now drove to that place ... anything can be. So much from me for now and the next writings I can explain and show you how to tie hooks, lead, swivels, and try to explain why that hook to any place ... I hope we will not have to wait so long my next answer. Have fun ...

How to catch a fish 2 (rod and reel)

... Now you get the idea that it does not hurt to buy a fishing rod and reel. Bravo! It is a solution, because you do not have the will constantly Unravel nylon, and in most cases it throw. Because if you have a tighter loop, there remains a memory and in this space if we are constantly tinkering. Therefore, the rod and reel were hit. Now we raised a little money and go buy a stick, and we do not know anything about the rod. Then the reel? Well here are a few tips that might help you in buying the rod and reel. When you go shopping you would need a cotton swab (Q-tip), and run with it along the guide rails for nylon, cotton stretched if it is not good, whether you are taking a two-piece or three-piece rod or a telescopic pole. For starters I would advise you to take some cheaper telescopic rod, reel and a cheaper because you have not hunted with a stick, so if you get that first stick more to serve for exercise. Another important thing when buying a fishing rod is a reel holder, which must be made of metal or at least must have a metal ring. After purchasing a few sticks of different capacities (through some period of time, depending on your financial situation) and reel also see that your some are better than others.
Now you want to buy a better rod and reel, higher quality, but that you can not pay because it's a bottomless pit. Better quality rods are expensive, and cheaper break easily. Instead of buying expensive rods so that in combination with reel often reaching prices over $ 1,000, my advice would be to buy a small boat, which together with motor can be found for less than $ 500, and then you do not need rods and reels. When you first fished from hand you will reject rods. Anyone who goes with me I need a lot of persuading to hunt without a stick, but when you once try, leaving the fishing rods. I in my collection I have seven sets of rods with reels, of which three are high quality sets. I've never fished from a boat with a fishing rod. There is no sense to me, takes me too much space, even if there are more of us in the boat, then this whole forest of sticks and everyone bothers everyone. To be continued...

How to catch a fish

How to catch a fish? Basically you need a string and hook. If you hunt for fun, that's all you need. If you're after doing some profits and then you have to invest a lot, you have to buy a large fishing boat that is well tolerated rough sea, buy rods and reels, lures expensive, and then it all complicated and every access to the sea is a major expense (if you are not financially well-heeled) and it did not get more enjoyment. To start buy the most basic: 100-yard 0.30mm strings and a pack of a dozen hooks (more related if you are not too adept at binding) and a few pieces of lead (and it can also lead-free, namely the first quantitative abundant catches I made with the coast only with line and one hook). It would not be bad to get a piece of cork for purchased reel nylon. You can easily make yourself.

After some time you will discover the barrel swivel, various buckles and beads, and eventually you are going to buy a little bit and use, thus complemented with accessories and slightly upgraded it. You'll learn how to tie the hook, in the way that suits you best (in some of the following posts I'll show you a few ways that I use most often) and gradually gain experience.
We came to the coast, chose the location, choose the bait and started to hunt. Soon you will (after assemble little experience) to see that the simplest and cheapest way possible to fish and hunt. Very much so. With little tricks you can catch any fish, even the biggest specimen of coastal sea fish. For large pelagic you can forget if you do not have a boat. But slowly we will come to that.
With all further throws, more and more you notice a problem discharged strings on the coast. If you are well trained and with sufficient lead, you can manually throw without problems and over 70 meters, and that means more than 100 meters discharged nylon. It takes just one small twig that all entanglement, so you have a loop of 100 meters of nylon. While it unravel (everything that entanglement can be and unravel) lose precious time for fishing. Well let's say that you have a few accessories, so you start to hunt with the other. And what if the entanglement and other accessories? And the third? A bit you start to lose the nerves and no longer enjoying the fishing. What to do, how to solve this problem? To be continued ...

Fishing on the sea

Three days ago I went on the fishing trip after 3 months. Finally, after rainy days, work commitments and illness, I was able to menage one afternoon to escape to the sea. My desire to go earlier to the sea, later will be shown smart. I tidied things and fishing equipment in several backpacks, fishing equipment i already prepared earlier (I had 3 months to do it). I come to the boat, and I already can see that the wind and waves will create me a problems. Untying the boat and after short drive anchoring it. Not exactly a ideal position, because waves moved my boat a little bit, but anchor is already in the sea,and did not give it to rise it again (heave a anchor with chain). I become fishing in about 15:00 hour and already seen that it will take me a lot of patience, because the waves are pretty big, the wind is indeed durable, but the current was too strong, and therefore vibrate my string a lot. At least from a similar direction comes waves and current. After an hour spent on a fishing position i do not have any fish caught fish, indeed I don't even feel fish bite, than behold, i have a small fish. Well, will be used for filleting for bait. Than little by little, fish shy start to biting. And than accessory for waiting start to move rapidly towards the sea. Countered, bravo, in hard, begin to rip a fish out, I can see it it's a gilt poll, very big. But i guess that gilt poll had obviously other plan, and just felt off. this is situation when i lose my nerves, but no matters and I put my accessories in the sea again. But fish again bite, and again I start to fill out the fish, and again fish felt off. And two more times this happens, and than i got a fish and I pull it out, it was a Piper fish. A little disappointed, continue to fishing and after a wile i catch a Gilhead bream on the another accessories, a much smaller, but well... Little by little comes the darkness, and now i can see that i cleverly made what i went earlier today, it becomes very cold. I raise anchor leave. I'm freezing my hands while I was up the anchor, and the anchor was still a bit stuck. a little power and anchor was up.
Hm what to say about this fishing trip? I could stripped out and blame a weather, waves? Current? Wind? It is not jet time for fishing, sea is still cold... But that will be just excuses. The fact is that i caught bad (about 1 kg (2.2 pounds) of fish). Sometimes you catch fish, sometimes you can catch a lot of fish, and sometimes you catch a very bad.
All in all not so bad, because I spend for the bait and fuel less than a 1 dollar. Next time i will...

Night fishing -Axillary seabream

Axillary sea bream (pagellus acarne) - grows to a maximum of 35 cm (1.14 feet) in lenght and reaches 0.5 kg (1.1 lbs) in weight, goes deep to 80 meters (262 feet). There is no closed season on this fish, and there is no minimum hunting weight. Inactive during the day, laying in the sand to dusk and night, when become active in search for food.
Axillary sea bream is one of the fish species that I fish intentionally, or to say we are going to fish axillary sea bream. They have tasty meat, and can be prepared in many ways, my favourite are fish soup and barbecue. I love to fish Axillary sea bream, when attacking baited hooks, do so without delay, and almost always school pierced for the lips. Just needs to get to position where we expect it might encounter bigger flock and a wait little bit (of course it is possible that the flock does not come, that we missed position, but I do have another day, come across them a second time). When a flock flies, fun begins. Often they lock onto and three pieces at once, and the catch can be plentiful. Just need a quick lift accessories - without any tactics, the sooner rid fish of hooks and fast as possible return fishing tool into the sea, while the flock is still bellow the ship. When a flock went, we should a wait for bit and another flock would come.
Because as nocturnal fish and comes at dusk, we do not have much time to the evening, to the darkness, when flock as a rule disappears. Higher Axillary sea bream at night otherwise bite, rather say nibbled and always I think something small biting, and always those "small" ones surprised me by its size. Once we find a couple flocks at once, and in a half an hour we fished so much that I begin to hurt my shoulder of the lifting. Literally could see how bucket filling with fish. How do I know that there were several flocks at once rather than one large flock? The flocks are usually examples of roughly the same size, and this time we couch them from the size of amoeba to the size of capital specimens of this species. The principle is the simple, just place the fishing tool to the bottom of the sea, count in yourself for three seconds, quickly dragging and begin to draw. Often Axillary sea bream catches on all hooks that we drop into the sea, bait is not important, he will eat everything, even it happens to bite empty hook.
No matter what Axillary sea bream no minimum size for fishing and is not commercially viable fish, though smaller examples of this kind, rather return back in the sea. It is not hard to free the hook from his mouth, and almost always Axillary sea bream will survive if you return him back into the sea.

night fishing -long line story

We are ready, full of enthusiasm, we have prepared a long-line with 50 hooks. We have another two hours until sunset. As we drive up to the position for the long-line, preparing the bait and bait the line. Sunny beautiful day, rosy sunset gives a hint that the night will be bright and warm. End of summer, tourists and weekend drivers with fast boats(who can not behave at sea, so-called kamikaze) left us. We are alone at sea, beautiful, thick. Here's the plan: we're going to set trawl lines to a depth of about 30 meters (98 feet), since it throw in a  position where we have not fished before, we will illuminate it with glow sticks and type the position of the GPS on our mobile phone, and while long-line is in the sea, we will fish from hands of 50-odd yards away. Long line got bait on the all 50 hooks and is ready for installation. The first flag is in the sea, a few minutes later and another. That's it, long-line gear is in the sea, and will remain so for about 2 hours. We anchoring little further and begin fishing.
Every now and then we look toward the flag, well everything is fine. It's getting dark and we still see the light of  flag long line. A little strange, as many falling darkness to see less the light, and after a while it can not longer see, but we know it's there somewhere. It is good, we caught about 2 kg (4.4 pounds) of fish. Let's boot lines and go for a few hours to fish on our hot spot, and let's go home. Raise anchor, but something is wrong, the anchor is not holding, so current move us little by little from our position. Well I guess we are not too moved (not at all). Where is the long line? Where are the flags of the long line? We started toward him, but where is it? I don't see the light, obviously current was moved us much further than we tough. Never mind we have information on the GPS. But we've never used a GPS, so let's try. We keep going right and left, up and down, but nowhere long line. A little further away from us, some fishing boat all the time going from left to right, and little by little gets on my nerves. Whether they may have found our long-line, while waiting us to, so they can pick him up? Running out of fuel, and the battery on the phone is running low. But I can think of go and come tomorrow morning when i can see flags of long line. When after an hour and a half a red light from a flag, just suddenly emerged from the darkness. What a relief, what a joy. We climb on long line gear and let's go home. Several conger and sea bream is not cheer us up. Too much is invested: effort, fuel and bait, for so bad catch.
This position is our suggested by a friend, and it really necessary to say that we never went to that position again.

Night fishing- conger

Conger (conger conger) according to the literature can grows up to 2.30 m (7,6 feet) and weighs 48 kg (105.8 pounds) but caught the specimens and more than 2.5 m (8 feet) and weigh more than 70 kg (154 pounds). Has a special shape of the body from head -round, and second half -flat. No luster, but his skin covering mucus, and therefore it can not catch with the bare hand, but it is necessary to have a rag. Thanks to the severant when he caught can live long beyond the sea. Most often found at depths between 5 - 15 m (16 - 49 feet) knows come and shallower, and apparently descends into the depths of over 1000 m (3280 feet).
About the sex life of a conger eel Little is known, it is not known how or where to spawn. Supposedly going to spawn a depth over 3000 m (9842 feet). Once the spawn, rest of their lives by himself and does not like the society. Typical night predator, per day hiding in holes and at night goes in search of food. It feeds on fish, cepalopods and crabs (his favourite is lobster), and will not hesitate to eat and someone of his kind. His blood is poisonous, and when you are in contact with conger you must ensure that these hands do not touch your eyes. The poison is termolabile and already at low temperatures is harmless (about 70 degrees Celsius- 158 degrees by Fahrenheit). His flesh is Delicious and can be prepared in several ways, the fried small pieces, over fish stew to barbecue larger pieces. Apparently the pieces greater than 5 kg (11 pounds) torn into slices and stored on the barbecue, delicacies which has no equal.
Usually captured on longline gear, staffed with fish. Hooks need to bee as large as possible. Conger has small teeth and terribly strong jaws. When we make tool for catching conger we must take care to make the leader of the steel cable.
Before I hunted conger deliberately, and now unwanted guest on my hooks. Because of his slimy skin I do not like the touch it. Always make mess when is cough  and almost always remain without a hook, because conger swallowed into the stomach. Usually I take him to a kit for a more noble fish.

Night fishing - gilt poll

Her majesty - queen gilt poll (on the head between the eyes has a golden crown in the shape of a crescent moon) the best of the best. The most delicious flesh of all white fish (personal opinion), prepared in all possible ways.
Gilt poll (sparus aurata) grows to 0.60 meters (1.96 feet) and reaches a wight of 10 kg (22 pounds) can be found everywhere along the coast, usually at depths up the 10 meters (32 feet) and can go down and more than 50 meters (164 feet). Gilt poll is born as male, to sexual maturity achieved a weight of 0.50 kg (1.1 pound) and after the first spawning rest of his life carried out as female.
Gilt poll on virtually everything, from snails, crabs, cephalopods to shellfish, sea-urchins and even small sea cucumbers. Shellfish are her favourite food, his armour crushed without any problems with her strong jaws and several rows of plate- like teeth. So gilt poll can be found on shell farms which devastated and can cause large losses.
On one occasion while i was diving armed with spear gun, i had opportunity to see gilt poll crashing head in the sea-urchin??? Quite surprised I have continued to follow from a safe distance that breaks the sea urchin, which was succeeded after the second attempt, and catered his juicy meat. As soon as she became aware of my presence has become cautious and slowly began to move away. When I tried to follow her she escaped with lighting speed. Looks like gilt poll not bother spines of sea urchin, because we can find in her womb when she cleaned.
Getting dark, we anchored up, prepare fishing tackle and bait. Most often i fish them on piece of squid (the best on the head), and after that most of them fishing on fish fillets of fresh fish. Some would say I'm fishing gilt poll with this bait, others would say I'm fishing with that bait. It is best to fish gilt poll with bait that gilt poll used in particular area.
The accessories made of base thickens 0.40 mm on which the sliding lead and rubber bead over swivels connected with leader and hook size expected prey. Rubber bead placed between sliding lead and swivel. Putting it to prevent damaging the node(or burst) which is related basic string with swivel.
Accessories throw about 10 meters (32 feet) from boat, and than the other tool that we throw depending on current, and after that just wait. When string move rapidly in the sea it is sign for a quick and strong counter-attack. String can be move slowly towards the sea, depending on the direction of current, so we can caught fish and not be aware that is on the hook, It takes more often to control the tool. When you pull out gilt poll still only need to free the hook and put her in the bucket. Easier said than done, because it happens very often that gilt poll does not want to let the hook, tough not hook penetrated in the fish's mouth. You can feel how the hook is free and you can not remove it from her mouth.
To catch gilt poll most important thing is to be persistent and patient. It took me over twenty years to catch my first gilt poll on hook, now in every fishing catch at least one. With persistence comes experience, and patience always pays off. Have fun....

Night fishing - saddled seabream

Saddled sea bream (oblada melanura), very fast swimmer. Although there are underdeveloped teeth and small mouth, a major predator and belongs to the very predatory fish. Grows up to 30 cm (11.8 inch) in lenght and 0.60 kg (1.32 pounds) of weight. Is most often found at depths between 5 and 20 meters (16-64 feet) although we can find at depths up to 70 meters (229 feet). Usually retains the bottom half, between the surface and bottom. Saddled sea bream does not like unclean sea, so it will not be found in polluted ports and harbours. Its meat is tasty.
Best fishing begins at dusk, when the moon is full, and with active alluring.
OK lets start. The fishing position come when dusk begins, and in the sky we can see moon in all its splendour. fishing position we choose the cape of some of the island towards the open sea. Anchor at a depth of about 7 meters (22 feet). It is desirable that the current pushing the boat towards to open sea. then we begin to allure. Ground bait usually prepared from old bread, cheese, flour and fish parts, or only the simplest of old bread. It is essential to well mixed and chop into dust, because we do not want to feed the fish, but the only scent to attract. when we trow ground bait most preferably in the sea looks like a cloud. Bait is made from the same material as we do ground bait. In a very short period of time should occur a flock of hungry saddled sea bream from the deep attracted by the smell of ground bait. On the surface should hear the squelch of a fish, it's a sign that we to descend fishing line with hooks into the sea. Preferably strong current. If we hit well all aspects of fishing, fishing should be plentiful. When fishing saddled sea bream no tactics, as soon as fish is caught it needs to be as fast as possible to extract the boat, because caught saddled sea bream are very erratically and thus provides a warning to other fish from flocks that something is wrong, and within immediately a whole flock disperse. Also when we brought the fish to the boat and threw her into the boat, needs to be immediately put to death. Because her strong throwing board makes the rest of the flock to escape. Saddled sea bream is very cautious and fearful of sounds. Solution for this problem is simple. We take the cloth bag ( the bigger is better) and store it in the fish. Cloth bag will solve another problem, and that is the one that caught saddled sea bream throws scales all over the boat. The scales when it atheres, can be removed only by grinding.
Fishing tackle is a simple, on the line thickness not ticker than 0.30, put through swivels leader not ticker than 0.25 mm and hook size appropriate prey. Keep in mind that saddled sea bream has a small mouth. we can put two hooks so-called whiskers system, and without any procrastination.

We release the line to where we saw ( don't forget that we fishing under the full moon) and hear that appeared fish. Very soon should be followed by a snap.
When the currents weaken it would be desirable insert the float in the system. Because incarnates lower current, and after short time system without float returns back.

To more night falls (especially in summer) so the upper current was becoming weaker. Than usually saddled sea bream bit stops feeding. When completely ceases to bite, it is a time to catch other nocturnal fish. Have fun...

The charms of night fishing

Once we get the early evening, we have the opportunity to watch the sunset over the sea. Which is always beautiful scenes and each is different. When night falls we have the opportunity to watch the stars in the sky. In night fishing is not rare to see a comet (boulders composed of rock and ice, which remain still the foundation of the solar system), meteors (shooting stars that leave a trail of lights, from burning when entering the earth's atmosphere) and asteroids (space bodies revolves around the sun along with the planets). When it is cloudy, the sky is coloured with amazing colours, and even there is lighting that is beautiful, than we expect rain. When the rain starts to fall we are happy that we suck bring raincoats. If rain does not fall, we are happy that we have not soaked ( who would meet us). And then dawn and sunrise - always something wonderful. Every now and then we talk ourselves: who can pay for this?!

Dangerous and wicked nocturnal fish

Moray. Fish that are often hunted at night, can be caught per day. At night a lot more interesting. When they are caught trying to rid sang and thickens the interesting nodes. They knows mess over 10 meters of line, which quietly becomes unusable. the incredible combination of tendons, muscles and strenght. A painful and poisonous bite, and can tear off the bite location. Moray ( muraena helena ) can grow up to 1.5 meters in lenght and reach about 10 kg weight. Lives at depths of 2 - 100 meters. Has strong jaws and sharp teeth to them, which are facing the back. Moreover has another jaws in the throat. there is no escape. Moray eat everything from crab over cephalopods to fish. No natural enemies. If someone or something closer to its hole attack angrily and aggressively. If you intend to let the Murine back into the sea it is not enough just to cut the string, but it mast rid of the hook. Hook can and often causes an infection in her mouth. Do not even try to catch Morey with your hand. It is best to catch with special pliers and knife stab in the brain, which is located behind the eyes. I usually cutting off her spine behind the head. But be careful because even dead Morey can bite. I usually cutting her jaws also. Morey meat is delicious. In ancient Rome, wealthier Romans had pools in which they kept Morey that are fed with special food for even better taste. Moray well tolerated captivity and is frequent guest in many aquariums.

Night auxiliary tool

This is a tool that we usually carry and use at night fishing, and it's basically all we need. Two pairs of pliers, two knives, scissors, diamond rasp, and lighter. Why lighter, if we have a light?
There is always the possibility of chatching weever fish ( trachinidae ), which is poisonous. Venom is located on the first dorsal fin, and the gill cover. Weever meat is delicious and it would be a shame to bring him back into the sea, so it would be best to remove its poisonus spines immediately after the catch. We use pliers and scissors. With pliers firmly catch weevers head and with scissors rip his venomus spines. But be careful. Weever is aware his poisonous spines and he will try to stab you. Yet, despite caution, accidents do happen. Therefore we use a lighter to ignite stabbed place, because the poison of Weever is termolabile. After we warmed up stabbed place, it is necessary as soon as possible to go to emergency room. Weever sting is very painful. Pain in the beginning becomes stronger, and after about 20 minutes become almost unbearable. Stabbed place much bleeding, first white, then turns red, and the flood and accrues. Swollen place is usually quite widespread, can affect whole hand. Arm can fall down and so you can not even move. Sometimes we have symptoms such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, vomiting, cold sweat, and even unconsciousness. In heat patients can cause death. Composition of the venom varies depending on the sex and season. In the male is more toxic.

Night fishing and our way how to do it

First let us explain that we fish only for sport and for fun. Never catch more than law allow us, never keep the fish under measure. Never catch species which is forbidden to fish for breeding.  We start fishing usually about an hour before sunset. While we drive a boat to our hot spot, we are preparing the bait, and after 5-10 min. anchorage. Before we start fishing, we are checking that anchor hold on. We are anchoring usually on the depths between 7 to 25 meters. Take out fishing tool and fishing begins.

We start fishing before sunset because that's the time when fish will feed intensive preparing for night. As night falling intensity of fish bite become rare. Usually we catch bigger fish, even in higher numbers.

We fish by the hand without fishing rod, because better feeling of fish and it's more fun, and we enjoying it. We fishing with two tools, one with three hooks witch we are holding all the time. Two hooks we put one under another. Higher hook catch beyond about 1 meter under the bottom, and third hook catch on the bottom. The other fishing tool we made of one bigger hook an lead with free movement on the fishing line. Other tool we throw 10-15 meters away from boat and let it fish by itself. When fishing line start to go in sea, it's time for one fast and strong pull, that will make hook penetrate in the fish's mouth. Withdraw  begins, we prepare holder net because self-catching tool always bring bigger fish, and we turn on light to see and succeed to bring fish on the boat. About light we must confess that we try all kind of light, including cellphones, hand lights, petrol lamps... The most suitable source of light are head lamps, always easy to access. Just to be sure we have strong hand light.

For bait most often we use squid or fish pieces or even combination of these two.
However the most important thing in night fishing is patience, because sometimes could happen that fish doesn't bite for more than a hour. But patience always pays off. Dawn is the time when fish is most active until sun is up, when its the time to go home.
Usually we stay at night fishing approximately 8 hours.
